housing Prices are too high. With rates not subsidised in ’25 and mortgage still high , currently seeking alternatives to maximise savings without an RV move or taking a loan. I’m seriously contemplating the latter.

When I was 34, interest rates were 18% in 1980. Builders like me were bankrupt. I own two rentals for $50,000 per year income and $50,000 per year in social security, two million dollar net worth. I have enough. I don't need 10,000 units although at age 30 I thought I would own 10,000 units. Then, I got cancer. I stopped building. I took a trip around the world, climbed the pyramids, bought an off grid nature retreat, loved my kids. Life is good, 2 units or 10,000? Yes.

@jackgoldman1 💯! I’ve had a strategy that less is so much MORE! There is far too much stress in trying to manage all of that. But, we do need apartments for people to live in, so someone has got to do it. Just NOT me!

That's the apartment complex where I grew up - right across from Spanish Trails. It used to have grass everywhere (the most grass I've ever seen in any complex ever) and a bunch of mature trees. They replaced 90% of the grass with rocks and cut down a good amount trees. That place is a shell of its former 90's glory, but at least it still has 6 pools I guess.

So funny to see the divide. You've got people like me who are starting out similar to Ken and growing an empire with multiple rentals.
Then on the flip side, you've got the cry babies who can't afford a single house. Some figure out the game in the US, others just complain loudly and don't make any necessary changes to be a participant because of "unfair" wages and "high cost of living".
Some change, learn, and succeed through the trials of life and the challenges in our world.... others don't.

Millions of Americans are grappling with a worsening rental crisis, driven by rising rents, stagnant wages, inflation, and the growing unaffordability of housing. As a result, many are struggling to save, and homeownership-once key to building wealth and ensuring financial stability-is becoming increasingly out of reach for the middle class. The dream of owning a home is fading for more people as the situation worsens.
